The Humanities Visualization Space (HVS) is reserved for humanities research and teaching purposes.

  • Access to the HVS (room 433 LAAH) will be granted with an approved HVS Teaching Request or HVS Research Request and completion of a HVS Orientation session.
    • Access to the Liberal Arts and Arts & Humanities Building (LAAH) for nights and weekends requires a separate approval.
  • With an approved teaching or research request, schedule additional HVS reservations by emailing CoDHR at codhr@tamu.edu with the day(s) and time(s) preferences with HVS Reservation as the subject.
    • Reservations may be subject to change to accommodate maintenance and priority reservations.  Advanced notice will be given if reservations are changed.
    • Cancel reservations by emailing codhr@tamu.edu.
  • HVS room accommodates 20-25 people.
  • The HVS cannot be scheduled as the regular classroom meeting site. The instructor must maintain an official classroom outside the HVS.
  • Per the University’s Standard Administrative Procedure Data Classification and Protection guidelines (see http://rules.tamu.edu/PDFs/29.01.03.M1.29.pdf), the HVS is not configured to store classified, confidential, or mission critical data. Do not store any of these types of data on the HVS.
  • It is the responsibility of the researcher to ensure he/she has acquired the appropriate approvals, e.g., IRB approval, before using the HVS.  Contact the Center of Digital Humanities Research (CoDHR) before obtaining those approvals to ensure we can accommodate your project.
  • User is responsible for saving and/or backing up work on an appropriate device, i.e., thumb drive, disc, cloud storage, etc.
  • HVS personnel are available Monday through Friday during normal business hours.
    • HVS personnel are available for troubleshooting hardware and basic software and operating system issues.  Notify HVS personnel immediately of any hardware or software problems.
  • Do not remove equipment (tablets, computer, chairs, tables, etc.) from the HVS.
  • Do not reconfigure HVS hardware or software without prior approval by HVS personnel.
  • Leave the room as it is set up, return chairs and/or tables to their original configuration.
  • No food or drink allowed.
  • Do not leave the HVS unlocked and unattended at any time.
  • Make sure the lights are off and the room is locked when exiting.
  • For Powerpoint presentations in the space, the ratio should be set at 56″ x 18.9″.
